"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God". Micah 6:8
BUILD has a 4 season process and we are now in the 1st stage - the Listening Process. So far at MQ we have had 5 house meetings and listened to the cares and concerns of 40 people.
We heard many concerns around our Elder Care campaign.
We ourselves are aging and we have family and neighbors also facing new challenges as we age. There is a group of UK researchers who spent the summer listening to many people and doing surveys so they can better understand the needs of our community. This information will help to shape the Villages that we are moving toward.
Often connected to the problems of aging is the lack of transportation. We are making progress on getting a microtransit pilot program in Lexington! Councilman Ellinger met with Lextran recently and both are committed to seeing this happen. Ellinger is going to ask the Council for an additional $400-500K from the city’s fund balance and Lextran agreed to match that! That is enough to get the pilot started! Ellinger will bring the proposal to council 10/10, and then voted on 10/21at 3 PM in council chambers. We would love and NEED your support. Contact your council member and at Large members, come to the council meetings. Ask Council to “Say Yes to Microtransit!”
The other campaign we are working on is rental concerns. We heard a few stories from renters as well as landlords. There is agreement that there are good and bad landlords. We want to see that renters are safe in their homes.
